How to Trust Your Intuition (Even When Your Mind Says Otherwise)

4 min read

You have felt that quiet inner signal before, a pull toward something, or away from something that arrives before you have had time to think. And then the mind steps in, with its reasons and its doubts, and the signal gets buried.

This post is about learning to hear it again.

What is intuition, really?

Intuition is not a mystical gift reserved for a special few. It is an intelligence, one that every human being carries. It is the part of you that processes information faster than conscious thought, drawing on everything you have experienced, felt, and absorbed to arrive at a knowing that bypasses the logical mind entirely.

It speaks through your body, not the mind.

When something is right, you feel it in your heart first like a quiet excitement, a sense of expansion, and sometimes as butterflies in your stomach, that alive, almost giddy feeling that says yes, this is it.

When something is wrong your body speaks just as clearly, your throat tightens, your heart feels blocked, like something is pressing against it. Your body contracts, even when your mind is still trying to find reasons to say yes.

This is your intuition. It has always been communicating with you through sensations, feelings, emotions which are the wisdom of your body.

It does not argue. It does not repeat itself endlessly. It simply knows and then waits for you to catch up.

The problem is not that your intuition is weak or unreliable. The problem is that most of us have spent years learning to override it.

Why we stop trusting ourselves

From a very early age, many of us are taught, explicitly or implicitly, to look outside ourselves for answers, to check with an authority, to wait for permission or to rationalize before we act.

Add to that the subconscious beliefs formed in childhood such as "I am not smart enough to know", "My feelings are wrong", "I need to be certain before I move" and the inner voice gets quieter and quieter, not because it has stopped speaking, but because we have stopped listening.

The good news is that intuition does not disappear, it waits.

How to begin trusting it again

1. Notice your first response

Before the mind begins to analyze, there is always a first response like a yes or a no, a lift or a drop, a warmth or a tightening. Start paying attention to that first signal before you talk yourself out of it or into it.

You do not have to act on it immediately, just notice it first, write it down and see how often it turns out to be right.

2. Learn the difference between fear and intuition

This is one of the most common questions people ask and it is an important one. Fear tends to be loud, urgent, and repetitive. It spirals and catastrophizes. Intuition, by contrast, is quiet and steady. It does not need to convince you. It simply is.

Fear says: "What if everything goes wrong?"

Intuition says: "This is not right for me."

The quality of the feeling is different. With practice, you will begin to recognize which is which.

3. Create space for stillness

Intuition cannot compete with noise. If your days are filled with constant input with screens, other people's opinions, and the endless scroll, the inner voice will struggle to be heard.

Even five minutes of quiet each day creates the conditions for intuition to surface, such as a walk without your phone, a few deep breaths before a decision or a meditation. Pay attention to your dreams as they are one of the most direct channels through which your intuition and the field communicate with you and the space between waking and sleep, which is, incidentally, exactly where the Expansion Series works.

4. Follow the small signals first

You do not need to make a life-changing decision based on intuition before you have learned to trust it. Start small. Follow the intuitive nudge to reach out to someone. Take the route that feels right. Choose the thing that calls to you, even without a logical reason.

Each small act of trust builds the relationship. And the more you follow, the clearer the signal becomes.

5. Work with the subconscious beliefs underneath

Sometimes the block to trusting your intuition is not a skill but a belief. "My judgment is wrong". "I cannot trust myself". "I need to be certain before I act". These programs run beneath the surface and override the intuitive signal before it even reaches your awareness.

This is exactly what ThetaHealing® works with. In a session, we identify the specific beliefs blocking your self-trust and, with your full awareness and consent, we replace them with something that actually serves you. The shift is often felt immediately.

Intuition is not something you develop. It is something you remember, reconnect to...

You were born knowing how to listen to yourself but life taught you to doubt it and now, you can find your way back with one small act of trust at a time.

Your inner voice has never stopped speaking. It has been waiting, patiently, for you to be ready to hear it.

Ready to go deeper? If you sense that a subconscious belief is blocking your ability to trust yourself, a ThetaHealing® session may be exactly what you need.
